Message It's been a good month without a car and a good 3 months building up a twin turbo engine. Below are some picks of the finished product. Thanks guys for your help... although some of the things that you said couldn't be done actually did work
(1) using 93 injectors in a 96 engine... can be done. you just need to change the injector connectors. (of course the fuel rail and lower intake manifolds are different between the two years and they need to be changed as well).
(2) a 96 NA ecu can be used for the 93 TT injectors with no problems. i haven't had any. the engine idles and runs perfectly.

I have a fully rebuilt 93 engine in my car with brand new turbos and intercoolers . I still have the VTC on the engine but the solenoids aren't connected to anything. I have a 95 TT ECU, maybe someday I'll have the VTC activated... maybe.

Here's a pic from the first day I cranked the engine.

A lot of gas-smelling, white smoke was coming from the exhausts (I didn't notice that it mainly came from the right side until I looked at this picture, would've saved many days if I did). It ran for a few minutes, died, then wouldn't start again. After a few days of troubleshooting and posting Qs on the forum. We determined that it wasn't the fuel temp sensor, the fuel pressure regulator solenoid (PRVR solenoid), the oxygen sensors, or the ECU itself. Gas was spraying out of the #1 and #3 cylinders when the spark plugs were removed so we took out the injectors and took a look at the o-rings. One of the o-rings had a pin-sized dot and the other one flattened out. Damn o-rings. So we replaced those o-rings and changed the oil (it smelled totally like gasoline).

Engine Bay

I relocated the EVAP canister solenoid and the fuel pressure solenoid higher up because they're way too difficult to reach at its the original position (right next to the engine below the pressurized air pipe).

HKS EVC V Boost Controller

i left the AC lines in their stock location with no major modification. the intercooler pipes pushed most of the lines out of the way.

i drove around like this for 10 minutes before i determined it too ghetto and ricey (especially the rapid flashing rear turn lights). need to get a new bumper...
